Phil Eaglestone impressed with the new ball for the Knights, much as Peter Connell had done for the Warriors, by taking the early wickets of David Rankin and Kamran Sajid. Coulter and Cameron-Dow both took further wickets, but as North West captain Niall McDonnell became the fourth to fall, the threatening clouds finally dropped their contents on Osborne Park, and play was abandoned for the day. That also turned out to be the end of the match, as water seeped onto the wicket overnight despite the covers. This non-result leaves the Leinster Lightning in a very comfortable position at the top of the table, with three points and a match in hand over their nearest rivals. It looks like Trent Johnston can chalk up his team#s second trophy, even if it isn't over until the fat lady sings.
